Rachel Weisz added a stage accolade to Hollywood stardom Sunday, winning the best-actress prize at London's Laurence Olivier theater awards for her role in A Streetcar Named Desire.

The prize for the Londoner made good in the U.S. was fitting on a night that rewarded several Broadway-bound productions, including Enron, Red and The Mountaintop, a play about Martin Luther King by 28-year-old American writer Katori Hall.

Rock musical spring Awakening - which traveled the opposite direction, from New York to London - took four Prizes, including best new musical.

Another Brillante Mendoza film brought honor to the country.

“Lola,” the latest film by Cannes-winning director Brillante “Dante” Mendoza, won the Grand Knight Award, equivalent to the Grand Jury Prize in the world competition category of the 27th Miami International Film Festival in the US.

The international film festival also commended the star of Lola, Anita Linda, as a cinema icon and its story for offering “an earnest, compassionate study of forgiveness and redemption.”

The pinoy indie film bested 13 other entries from Russia, Brazil, China, Bolivia and The Netherlands in the category that celebrates the works of up-and-coming filmmakers from around the world.

7 pinoys made it to the Top 100 finalists of Benetton’s “It’s My Time” model search.

21-year-old Bicolana beauty, Maria Venus Raj (#10, center), was chosen as Bb. Pilipinas-Universe. She stands 5′9.

20-year-old former Miss USA-Philippines winner, Krista Mae Arrieta Kleiner (#11, 2nd from left), was selected as Bb. Pilipinas-International. Best known as Krissa Mae, this Psychology grad already appeared in various GMA programs such as Gagambino, Obra, Gobingo and Darna. She’s the girlfriend of RnB Prince Jay-R.

Ezra Band from Davao del Sur impressed the three judges of Pilipinas Got Talent.

There’s something special about Ezra band. This band from Davao del Sur has a girl vocalist named Kaaye and a differently-abled keyboard player. Their soulful rendition of “Wonderful Tonight” wowed the judges.
